Welcome to Drakenstein Palliative Hospice
A community of Love in Action… taking care of the body, mind and spirit
Adriaan Venter; Chairman of the first combined Drakenstein Palliative Hospice and Butterfly House Board said:
The biggest threat to the people of Africa is not drought and famine. The greatest threat to the people of Africa is not dictators, civil wars and genocide. The greatest threat to the people of Africa, is not life-threatening illnesses, like TB and HIV/Aids. Ladies and Gentleman, the greatest threat to the people of Africa is hopelessness because when you lose hope, you lose all chances of conquering any of these things.
Hope has Wings… Butterfly Wings
Traditionally Hospices care for patients with an expectation of ‘dying’. Due to the changing nature of life-threatening illnesses and the poor socio economic climate and limited resources available, Hospices care for not only the infected patients but also their children and the affected community who are confronted with an expectation of ‘living’ with a life-threatening illness.
Drakenstein Palliative Hospice is COHSASA (Council of Hospital Services Accreditation of Southern Africa) Accredited we are a 5-star member of the HPCA (Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa) |
